September 25, 1938 until July 5, 2023

Barbara Ann Lamkin Head

Barbara Ann Lamkin Head, age 84, of Bentonville passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Circle of Life Hospice House in Springdale. She was born to Letha Roberta Vincent Lamkin and Charles Edward Lamkin on September 25, 1938, in Channing, Texas.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by William (Bill) Head, her husband of 59 years; her two brothers, Bob Lamkin and Gene Lamkin; and her much loved in-laws, Marie (Sam) and Maurice Head and Jan and Milton Head.

Barbara worked for Frontier Airlines until she and Bill began their family. She stayed home with her children while they were young, working as a representative for Tupperware and Avon and later joining the Bentonville School District. She worked for the Walmart organization in a variety of locations and positions, finally retiring from Store #1 after a tenure of over 20 years.

After retirement, she enjoyed crafting, participating in craft fairs and going to the casinos. She was well known for her crazy sense of humor and her love of a good prank: You never told her you didn’t care what drink you got at dinner because you’d get a mixture of all available options! She was also blessed with an incredibly green thumb, an ability to solve any problem and an unrivaled love for her family.

Barbara is survived by her beloved 6-year-old Yorkie, Sally Jo; two daughters and their husbands, Beverly and Kevin Parkerson of Elm Springs and Brenda and Brad Gunner of Olive Branch, Mississippi; four grandchildren, Abby (Colt) Moorman, Claire (Trey) Lewellen, Stuart (Sydney) Gunner, and Julia Gunner; one great-grandchild, Paul Randall Lewellen IV, on the way! She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

She will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in her memory.

Private family services will be held.
